With most trips being postponed until 2021, small road trips have become the standard for 2020. We decided to head into the Shenandoah Valley for a girls weekend of wine, laughter and fresh air.
Stay
Fenton Inn – A charming little bed & breakfast tucked away in the mountains and styled to look and feel like you’re in Germany.
Drink & Eat
Blenheim Vineyards – A fantastic spot to start our trip with delicious wine. Perfect covered patio or options more in the sun.
Wisdom Oak Winery – Gorgeous scenery with plenty of seating options available. We did the self guided tasting option with a little extra Chardonnay.
Veritas Vineyard – Their phase ii restaurant is packed with delicious food options or you can opt for picnic tables with tasting options.
Afton Mountain Vineyards – Truly nestled into the mountains with a lovely tasting option or plenty of bottles to pick from.
King Family Vineyards – Multiple tasting options with both indoor and outdoor seating. The grounds are huge with polo fields next door.
Bold Rock Cider – We went to the smaller barn area for some live music, but plenty of cider and mixed drink options with wonderful scenery and food trucks on occasion.
White Oak Lavender Farm – Plenty to explore from animals to the lavender fields to wines both with and without lavender infusions.
CrossKeys Vineyards – Amazing food and the perfect place to hang out for a little while before a long drive.
Play
Blue Ridge Parkway & Skyline Drive – While there are tons of hikes in the area and skiing options in the fall along with estates to tour and museums, weather and time constraints left us enjoying the scenic overlooks along the drive.
