Back on the road again, this time for an overnight in Staunton, VA. Fall temps arrived almost overnight, but that just means it’s red wine season.
Stay
Hotel 24 South – Recently renamed, this hotel has been around since, you guessed it, 1924. Located right downtown, it’s the perfect location for being able to explore the area. Bonus, they love doggos.
Drink & Eat
Early Mountain Vineyards – While the indoor area has reopened in a limited fashion and looks absolutely stunning, we opted for outdoor. Wonderful scenery, great wine and plenty of good food options!
Thatch Winery – We sat out on the front patio and it felt like being transported to Europe. The Lemberger is my new favorite red.
Zynodoa – All locally sourced and absolutely delicious. We opted for the chefs tasting menu and wine paring + their signature Irish Coffee to round out the night.
The French Press – Plenty of coffee & food options which was necessary after hiking Humpback Rock.
Old House Vineyards – With a Brewery & distillery also on site, you really can’t go wrong here. There is plenty of space around the property as well making it easy to socially distance.
Play
Humpback Rock (Humpback Gap Overlook) – If you like one mile straight climb hikes, this is the one to do. It’s well worth the views (even if it’s cold out).
