Rather than the typical daily or city recap, I’m breaking Paris into three general sections. The general flow will be that this post includes major sights (with some left out because I climbed them), the next post is all about climbing a few cool places and then I’ll wrap up with the good stuff (aka food & shopping).
My first real day in Paris begain with a walk through the Tuileries gardens starting at the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel entrance across from the Louvre. After walking through part of the gardens, we continued down along the Sine towards the Grand Palais before crossing the bridge towards Hotel des Invalides. After visiting the Eiffel Tower (more on this later), we walked over to the Trocadero for another view before continuing up to the Arc de Triomphe.
After taking the metro over to a different part of the city for some food stops (more later) we stopped in Luxembourg Gardens with macaroons from our first of two shops.
Later that evening, we visited Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur before heading back towards the hotel to grab dinner and get ready for a tour of Paris at night. Now somewhere at the Eiffel Tower, my camera broke (and I got it moderately fixed) so I wasn’t able to take amazing photos for most of the day, except with my phone.
The following day we visited Le Marche des Enfants Rouges and Place des Vosges before walking over towards the Jewish Quarter Rue des Rosiers and got some of the best falafel ever (random I know).
The day also included a visit to Notre Dame, some shopping near Champs-Elysses and more macaroons. We also went to Musee de l’Orangerie to see the Water Lillies displayed as intended and headed over to the Louvre to hang out with Mona.
On our last morning, we placed our lock on a very heavy Pont des Arts that as we were leaving, the city was continuing to put wood boards over parts of the bridge so people will soon be unable to place any more locks.
Paris was beautiful and stay tuned for more details about some of the city’s highlights along with a post dedicated to food and sugar..
