Naturally this post is being written on a train, but regardless of where I write, the message is what remains important. Trains are something that until this year I have not spent much time traveling on. Growing up we took many road trips and many flights and though I have grown to like each for varying reasons, I think trains have become my favorite method of travel.
Trains combine what I love about cars and what I love about planes into one perfect package. Each week this summer I have taken the train to New York and back. It is definitely a trek to be doing it weekly, but most of the time I get to spend Wednesday afternoons watching the sunset and Saturdays enjoying the beauty of the east coast lit by scattering clouds and bright sunshine. The great thing about taking trains is that 1) there is worrying about exploding bottles since the altitude won’t really change (at least not between NYC and Philly) and 2) you can get up and move around if you start to get leg cramps (no pulling over to gas stations to stretch).
Though it might be ‘old school’ to take the train, I suggest everyone enjoy the ride at least once.
