Being sick and exploring areas of London in the cold and occasionally rainy weather isn’t the best idea, but when it’s for class you suck it up and go. I started the week getting to visit the docklands area and walk around Greenwich. While the docklands are more of a financial hub, the Greenwich area retains it’s old word charm and has been a filming site for Thor and other movies. We got to see the 0′ line (it’s what is between my feet) and explored the area after a rainy morning. I also was able to see the O2 arena in the distance, which I would be climbing over the following day and seeing a concert at a few weeks after.
Tuesday’s highlight was climbing atop the O2 for their Up at the O2 experience. Partly because we wanted to and partly so we would have pictures for a class presentation, Heidi and I went on an adventure that included training videos and ropes as we climbed up and over the 52 meter high O2 arena. We scheduled it for sunset because I knew the photos would be best then and we lucked out. With weather that has gotten more spotty, it was going to be up to the weather gods to determine if we would have clear or clouded skies and it was a perfect mix. The rest of the week consisted of a 2.5 hour lecture on cheese that consisted of trying 15 kinds (now you know why having more in Lille has made me a cheese expert and also a bit tired of cheese for a bit). We also explored Brixton a bit and I hit up Primark for a bit of shopping.
