Now that I’ve shared my love of Flywheel and FlyBarre, I wanted to take a minute to mention two other Fitness/Lifestyle brands that I’m a fan of.
Tone It Up is a community of women that has been built by Karena and Katrina. Based in California, their website provides free workouts, lifestyle tips and tricks and healthy recopies. They also offer a comprehensive meal plan and lifestyle guide. I’ve known about this duo since early 2012, back before they were on Bravo and when the brand was really starting to spread. It has been cool to see the community grow over the past two years and I have met some pretty awesome people through it. Around the world, different women and girls of all ages will organize ‘meet-ups’ for workout classes, cooking classes, paint nights, etc. Their workouts are always fun as well and weekly they post a schedule to follow. It’s great for those on the go who want structure at the gym without the cost of a personal trainer. They also offer a few challenge series through the year full of prizes and extra fun.. The next one is their ‘Frisky Fall’ challenge starting September 8th.
Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide is more of a true 12 week workout plan that has had some amazing results. Based in Australia, Kayla sells two e-books, a food guide and a workout guide, that provide a comprehensive workout plan. Unlike Tone It Up, this is 12 weeks of building structure, similar to what you might get from a program like Insanity or other Beachbody DVD’s. The difference is that these are all quick 30 minute workouts that are to be done in a gym with minimal equipment (so you could do them at home or while traveling). I started the first week before I got sick for the majority of the summer, but plan to begin it all over again in London. The workouts are challenging, but easy to understand and Kayla just released a new update (weeks 13-24) for those ready for the next challenge…. I’m going to do round 1 twice before tackling that mountain.
If you need something to change up your workouts with / want motivation / or just felt like reading, these are what I’m a fan of. My personal plan (that I will write an update about at some point) is to follow both programs (the Frisky Fall Challenge and BBG) together during my term abroad.
