You may remember him for acting and singing credits in movies like Another Cinderella Story or High School Musical but Drew Seeley has done more than that! After recently releasing an album and shooting a music video, it is back to audtitions to find out what role is next. Drew and I chatted about his new music, charity work, and shows he would love to have a role on.
Q: What have you been working on recently?
A: Well, I shot a music video for How A Heart Breaks up in Vancouver last month, and it’s being edited right now, so I’ll hopefully release that within the next month. I’m planning on shooting another video for Lazy Days so I’m casting that right now and getting that ready to go. I’m playing some shows around LA and doing a show in Berlin, Germany on September 3rd and that’s about it!
Q: What would you say the sound to the new album is?
A: It’s kind of like Maroon 5 meets Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson, sort of pop rock funk.
Q: What is your favorite song off the album at the moment?
A: It changes daily but right now probably Let it Go or Beautiful.
Q: Is there a show that you might want to guest star on at some point?
A: Oh yeah! There are a lot of old school shows that pilot this year like that Playboy show or the Pan Am show and I think it would be really fun to be part of a period piece and do something from a different era. Of course anything musical I’m always up for. I’m anxious to work on anything new and exciting that I haven’t tried before, maybe even theater again.
Q: Are there any charities that you are involved with or organizations close to your heart?
A: I do. I just posted some new things on my website under that section. I’m volunteering with an organization in LA called Art of Elysium and it’s for artists, singers, actors, writers and anyone in the arts in LA and we go around to different children’s hospitals and go to the kids rooms and sing with them or put on skits for them or write with them. Basically bring the arts to them since they cant go out and experience it themselves, so that’s something I’ve been doing for about six months now and I really like it.
Q: Who are some of your favorite artists?
A: I still listen to a lot of Jamiroquai and a lot of British stuff. I haven’t been really listening to the radio too much to be honest but I just started checking out Spotify the other day which is a really cool new music service to discover music so I’m gunna go home and check that out.
Q: What is the best way for fans to get in touch with you?
A: Twitter, Facebook, oh and I just got Google Plus and that is actually really cool because there are not too many people on there yet and I do live chats with the people in my circles, so ill just start a live video chat and the chat room will open up. Basically the first ten people to see that can click in and talk about whatever, but they limit it to the ten people which is cool so that I can see everybody and talk to everybody individually instead of just like a massive room so it’s something I’m going to do a lot more of over the next few weeks and stuff.
