After a summer on tour last year and some time working on a new album, Ashlyne took some time to talk with me about her life over the past year and the NKOTBSB tour.
Q: Since we last talked you have gone from a tour with Jordin Sparks to a tour
with NKOTBSB! What has the ride been like?
A: Well, Jordin’s on this tour too so I still feel right at home! :) Now I have a new album, new video, more experience, and I am thrilled to be on this tour this summer! Still working day and night to make my dreams come true !
New music is coming from you, how has the sound changed since the last
album? This new album has a slightly different sound (way more of a beat this time.) I dance a lot more than I used to in my show, which makes it more fun for everybody involved! I still love my old music, don’t get me wrong, but having the dance influence kicked up a notch makes a huge difference in my live show!
Q: What are you most excited about for the tour this summer?
A: I am a big fan of looking back at where I was last year at this time…never in a million years would I have told you I’d be on the road with two of the biggest boy bands of our generation. Never. But I’m happy about it. I’m so excited about the release of Let It Out and continuing to meet new fans and make new friends on the road.
Q: You always seem to look amazing, where does your fashion sense come from?
A: I like to be daring at times and blend in others. It’s all about mood for me. At a red carpet, I love to look glamorous and high fashion, but on the bus right now, I’m wearing an H&M black sweat shirt and leggings with my tortoise-shell glasses! (athletic-library look maybe? haha) I think girls should wear what’s comfortable but also makes them feel confident. You don’t always have to be dressed to the nines… sometimes a cute t-shirt and some cut off shorts will do the trick!
Q: What charities are you supporting and why?
A: I support FEED projects because I can’t imagine how it would be to be hungry ( I eat a ton and I take it for granted that I can ). Also, FEED projects is working inside the US to help make our lunchrooms more nutritious for children. What your diet consists of can completely alter your brain function and how you feel throughout the day. I also support the Salvation Army. I didn’t realize how much they still did for people in need until I got involved this past holiday season. It’s amazing! Just a little change in a red kettle can really make a difference when you add it all up!
Q: What fan meeting has left the biggest impression on you?
A: Every fan meeting is special because every fan is special. But I met Sinead Zed in Canada last year on the Honor Society tour. She gave me her strand of “Bravery Beads” that she had built up from her stays at the hospital. Girl is brave because that strand was long! Since then, I have kept up with Sinead via Twitter and she tells me about everything that is going on in her world. Sweet and strong lady and I’m very fortunate to know her.
Q: What is your favorite song off the new album?
A: The album is called Let It Out because it’s the theme of my last year. I have learned to let go of some of the stresses and weights I carry onto. The feeling of any girl to be perfect, please everyone, you know, stuff like that. And I decided that I needed music that fed my soul and my passion for dance. So now, I’m letting it all out and LOVING IT.
So, in answer to your question: “Let It Out” :) .
