TC Carter of Varsity Fanclub:
Q: What got you started in music?
A: I’ve always done musical theater and that stuff when I was back home in Georgia and I didn’t really move out to LA for music, I moved out for acting and music just kind of fell into place. I met the guys of Varsity Fanclub playing basketball one day and when one of their members was going to leave, they were like ‘hey, you should join the band,’ so I joined the band and that’s how everything started for me with the whole music career out here and it’s been fun.
Q: What if your favorite VFC song?
A: There’s a lot actually. I don’t know if I could pick one. There’s a couple that aren’t released yet that hopefully will be released soon, that will be on the next album, one’s called Opera and I think that’s got to be my favorite and I think everyone else will too.
Q: Are there plans to go on tour?
A: There are. What we are doing right now is just getting a fresh start with new management since the band has a new member and we are working on a new album and it should be soon.
Q: What is your favorite part of being in the music industry?
A: My favorite part would honestly have to be just performing and getting to be out in front of our amazing fans. Recording is also amazing; I love everything about the business but definitely performing.
Q: What is the most played song on your iPod?
A: There’s a few Chris Brown songs that are up there. I think Chris Brown kida tops it off and Justin Timberlake even though that’s kinda cliché because he was in a boy band. I think those are the top two.
Q: Who is your biggest role model?
A: Michael Jackson is a role model to me in performing just because of how he carried himself on stage and how he could just draw in an audience so well, I love that. Again it’s kind of cliché but Justin Timberlake, how his voice is just amazing and he can dance and everything so well and it amazes me. I just love watching him perform.
Q: What do you love most about being in a band?
A: I love the brotherly aspect, like they treat me like I’m they’re little brother even though I’m new. It’s just so much fun to work with them all the time and there is never a calm moment. We’re always having fun, we’re always just messing around, but it’s a lot of fun being in a band and it’s cool to have the band mates and everything.
Q: How did the Habenero Pepper video come about?
A: We lost against Chester See to who could get to 12,000 followers first. It is a little unfair because we still have 12,000 plus followers & he doesn’t. But since we lost, we had to film ourselves eating a habanero pepper. Is was probably the worst decision I’ve made in my life haha it was soooo hot! But we’ll do anything for our fans.
Q: Will there be any more covers like you did with Tik Tok?
A: Yes, we are planning to do another cover but we don’t know what it’s going to be yet.
Q: If you could record a song or tour with anyone, who would it be?
A: Recording wise, it would be really cool to do The Black Eyed Peas or Slash I think would be a really cool colab just because he’s Slash. Justin Bieber would be sick but touring wise, we would love to hop on Justin Bieber’s tour or any tour honestly. I think Justin Bieber is probably be everyone’s top because that’s more along the lines of our fans.
Q: If you could be on any TV show and also record the theme song, what would it be?
A: I love Modern Family; I would love to be on Modern Family. Or something like Glee, that would be pretty sick to be on too. I would love to record a song for Glee or the band record the theme song for Glee.
