Q: What is your favorite pastime?
A: I love to be outside. I love to skateboard, surf and sail, go camping; lately I’ve been a fan of road trips. I’ll just fill up the tank, start driving, and see where I end up.
Q: Why did you start singing?
A: I started singing when I was about nine years old. I started playing guitar at the same time and I just loved playing music, I grew up around it and started playing open mics in San Diego; and that eventually led me to study music in High School. And that ended up persuading me to sign to a record deal with Capitol Records, which was amazing. Now I’m just kind of doing my own thing, going solo and seeing where this path takes me.
Q: Who are your favorite artists?
A: Definitely Something Corporate tops that list, Dashboard Confessional, Jay-Z . I mean I love everything from Jazz to Classical. I studied classical in high school for a year ,so I definitely have an appreciation for that, but honestly I love every type of music, if it’s a good song then I’m going to listen to it.
Q: What goals do you have as a solo artist, that were not achieved in the band?
A: To have my music in everyone’s hands. I want everyone to have a Thomas Fiss playlist on their iPod.
Q: How do you describe the EP?
A: It’s acoustic pop-rock, it’s a lot of fun to listen to and it’s kind of like a party in your ears, I think. Most of all, though, I think it is a good definition of what my personality is like.
Q: What are your favorite songs on the EP?
A: I absolutely love ‘Jealous Of Distance’, that’s definitely been a favorite of mine, just to play. Also, ‘Waiting’ is a favorite of mine, but they are all really great songs; and I think everyone is going to enjoy it.
Q: You will go on tour, so where would you like to visit?
A: I would love to go everywhere. I was fortunate enough to do a little bit of touring with the last group I was in, but there is definitely a lot of the country and other countries that I haven’t seen, and I’d like to see. I would really love to meet everyone that’s out there that would like to listen to my music.
Q: How do you connect with fans?
A: I have my MySpace that I check daily. If I’m not in the studio or doing anything else, that has to do with music, then you can probably find me on a computer replying to fans. It’s like a twenty-four hour job, honestly, like I’m on MySpace replying to peoples messages and comments. I’m on Twitter every second I can be, updating and replying to people; Facebook; I’m on YouTube replying to comments. If there is a way for someone to get in touch with me, I will probably get in touch with them back. Also, there is my fan mail that people can send letters into.
Q: Where does the inspiration for the clothes come from?
A: The inspiration behind Addison came from my own personal lifestyle. I grew up in San Diego just a couple minutes from the beach. I kind of wanted to put my personality into a clothing line for girls. I noticed that a lot of girls at different shows were wearing the same brands, the same styles, and I just wanted to mix it up a little bit and thankfully it caught on and there has been hundreds and hundreds of Addison supporters out there right now; so I’m glad to see Addison take off and girls’ wearing it. It’s such a great feeling to walk down the street and see some random girls wearing it.
Q: You would like to win a People’s Choice Award at some point, who would you like to present the award to you?
A: I think Megan Fox would be awesome just because I think she’s kind of cute. And it would be an honor for Taylor Swift to present it; I mean I have so much respect for her, so that would be amazing also.
Q: What show would you like to write a song for?
A: I would like to write a song for The Hills or The City because those are my mom and sisters’ favorite shows.
Q: How did Broadway prepare you musically?
A: I was in a show called ‘The Full Monty.’ It was a musical that started in San Diego and eventually went out to New York, for a little over a year on Broadway. It was a lot of fun. I got to be on stage every night, and it was sold out. So I think that prepared me for music by just the ability to get comfortable in front of large audiences
Q: What is the most played song on your iPod?
A: I think right now it’s The Maine’, ‘Into your arms.’ I love that song.
